Another week brings another edition of the Night Shift, the European community gathered for the 47th time in the competition to vote for the week's best European team. Once again Buff Enjoyers emerged victorious over Abrahams though not without a struggle
The evening had actually started well for Abrahams, who easily defeated Leviathan, a team making another appearance in the Challenger match after a 2-0 win over Slice 'n Dice. Abrahams was greatly aided by an incredible performance from Together, who was unstoppable on Silver
The match involving Abrahams also marked Sharyk's return to competitive play after several months of inactivity, however, it was not an easy comeback, as he struggled with his performance throughout the evening
The first map was typical of matchups between Abrahams and Buff Enjoyers, the Russian team held a steady lead during the early stages, while Buff Enjoyers kept themselves within striking distance, ready to rally regardless of setbacks. Ultimately, however, that wasn't enough, and Abrahams won the opening game after 43 minutes
The second map was a completely different story, the early game was dominated by Buff Enjoyers, aided significantly by Cosmetical’s Pocket pick which Abrahams had left unbanned. Another interesting aspect of the match was Apollo’s resurgence in the drafts throughout the evening, showcased effectively by an inspired Vraic
The third map was a different affair entirely, featuring back-and-forth momentum for the first 15 minutes. Buff Enjoyers easily secured the mid-map boss completely catching Abrahams off guard and pulled ahead in the game. However, a heroic play by Arzo on Wraith ten minutes later allowed Abrahams to contest and secure the mid-map boss, unfortunately, this effort was completely squandered by an ill-advised overextension from Sharyk who was struggling throughout, leading to a total wipeout for Abrahams, despite having three Rejuvenators available
Buff Enjoyers wouldn't let this opportunity slip away, ultimately winning 2-1 after another extremely tight match between the two squads
On the other side of the globe, the North American edition lacked a Challenger match due to a lack of registered teams, notably following the disbanding of Work In Progress and Get Candy, alongside roster changes at Birds With Clock
FPS Lounge was also absent, for far more intriguing reasons, numerous legal issues surrounding the team's CEO, Derek Taing, ranging from unpaid wages to the misappropriation of funds for unscrupulous purposes
Consequently, the FPS Lounge roster, competing under the banner of Poppers Puppils advanced straight to the final to face Melee Creeps once again, the latter were still searching for a sixth player, this time fielding Boostio on a trial
Boostio faced a tough challenge against Silver across the three maps of the evening's match, which also saw the return of some unconventional picks such as McGinnis and Grey Talon on the first map, and Vyper and Warden on the last. These off-meta selections came from Melee Creeps, who once again prioritized comfort picks over the current meta
A final between Poppers Puppils and Melee Creeps implies record-breaking match lengths, and this final was no exception, featuring games lasting 39 and 48 minutes. However, it concluded with a stark contrast, a one-sided match that saw Poppers Puppils ultimately secure a 2–1 victory following a final game that lasted 28 minutes
Thanks to these wins, Cosmetical claimed his second MVP award and Zeno his third, while Arzo and Poppers earned their first EVP honors
